Overview of Market Trends in the Semiconductor Materials Industry with Focus on CMP Consumables

12:20 pm - 12:45 pm

This presentation highlights key insights from a semiconductor materials market analysis, conducted as part of a broader research portfolio transitioning from Linx Consulting to SEMI. As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to drive growth across the global semiconductor industry, demand is shifting toward advanced semiconductors with high-performance computing and storage capabilities—subsequently increasing the consumption of semiconductor process materials.

The global semiconductor materials landscape is shaped by four major forces: Geopolitical Tension, Macroeconomic Trends, Global Localization, and Technological Innovation. Among these, geopolitics has emerged as the dominant force, as evidenced by recent industry surveys. Heightened tensions are restructuring global supply chains—exemplified by U.S. tariff enforcement and China’s tighter export controls on critical upstream materials. These developments are accelerating supply chain fragmentation and regionalization, prompting governments to invest in domestic capabilities to enhance strategic and economic resilience.

Following a period of correction characterized by high inventories and underutilized new capacity, the semiconductor process materials market is poised for a robust recovery, underpinned by renewed demand and structural realignment from 2025 onward.
