Dongjae Shin

Dr. Dongjae Shin is a Scientific Director at IMEC. He has authored one book, published over 75 research papers, and holds more than 125 patents. His expertise spans silicon photonics, on-chip lasers, LiDAR, optical interconnects, optical cross-connects, colorless WDM-PON, visible light communication, and near-field optics. From 2002 to 2023, he held various roles at Samsung Electronics in South Korea, progressing from Senior Engineer to Principal Engineer and Principal Researcher. Prior to that, he was with Bell Labs in New Jersey, USA, from 2001 to 2002. Currently, he focuses on developing photonic circuits and systems for emerging applications at IMEC.
