Knut Gottfried

Knut Gottfried received his Diploma degree in electrical engineering from Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC), Germany in 1993. Following he started as research engineer at the Chemnitz University’s Center for Microtechnologies. He was mainly involved in research regarding advanced interconnect systems in ICs and MEMS.
In 2004 he graduated as Ph.D about interconnect schemes for sensor applications operating at temperatures up to 500 °C.
In 2001 Knut moved to Fraunhofer, where he took over general responsibility for semiconductor surface preparation technologies. Besides that, he is deputy head of the department “Nano Device Technologies”.
Knut is chairman of the European CMP- and Wet-Users group and vice president of the “International Conference on Planarization/CMP Technology – ICPT”.
He is also founder and co-owner of ErzM-Technologies, a company that offers highly customer specific process and technology development
